The Spot
The Koji Club started in 2020 as a virtual pop-up and subscription service before opening as a physical bar in Brighton in 2022, becoming New England's first and only sake bar. The space centers entirely on sake, with a curated selection that leans on small rural Japanese breweries rather than the mass-market bottles most drinkers know.

Founding members Alyssa Mikiko DiPasquale and Claire Makley run the bar together; Makley became a Level One Certified Sake Professional in 2016. Guests can walk in or book a dedicated sake tasting experience, with staff built around teaching the drink as much as pouring it.

The Koji Club was a James Beard Foundation Outstanding Professional in Beverage Service semifinalist in 2026.
