The Hummus Shop sits behind a women's clothing boutique on Charles Street in Beacon Hill, founded by lifelong New Englander Colin Daly. It's a casual, counter-service operation: hummus is spun fresh on-site daily, falafel is fried to order, and tahini dressing is made in-house.
The hummus is light and lemon-forward, serving as the base for most of the menu. The Sabich layers crispy fried eggplant, sliced hard-boiled egg, tahini, a chopped cucumber-tomato Israeli salad, and house-made schug and toum. The Fantastic Falafel comes with more of that salad, schug, and microgreens. The Hummus Shop is also one of the few certified kosher restaurants in Boston.
Seating is limited to a couple of tables, and the shop runs more as a grab-and-go spot — the kind of place people pick up from and eat nearby in the Public Garden or back at their desks.
