The Spot
La Hacienda has anchored Meridian Street in East Boston since Jose Callejas and Maria Salgado brought it from Texas in the early 1990s. It's a casual, full-bar restaurant serving Mexican and Salvadoran dishes side by side.

The menu leans into shared appetizers and platters: aguachile, shrimp ceviche, queso fundido melted in a cast-iron skillet, fried yuca con chicharron, tostones, and a picada loaded with grilled chicken, steak, pork rind, wings, and queso fresco. Salvadoran enchiladas and fajitas are also on offer, and on weekends the kitchen puts out sopa de mondongo, a homemade soup regulars look forward to.
