The Spot
Hunan Bistro runs out of a modest storefront on Anderson Mill Road, the kind of small, intimate operation regulars return to for its friendly owner and staff as much as the food. The menu leans hard into Hunan and Sichuan cooking, with whole tilapia done half a dozen ways — ginger and red pepper, pickled pepper, dry-sautéed, green onion — alongside Chongqing-style catfish, dan dan noodles, duck blood cake with beef tripe in chili sauce, and grandma's braised pork belly.

Spice here is handled with real intention rather than turned down for a general audience, and dishes like the steamed bone-in chicken with chili oil and the numbing lamb with yellow bean sprouts show a kitchen comfortable with Sichuan peppercorn heat. Seating is limited, but that hasn't slowed the local following that's built around it.
