Le Nouveau Maquis was founded by the Togolese mother-and-daughter duo Fanta and Fabiola, bringing dishes from across West Africa to Atlanta. The Tucker location keeps the casual, neighborhood feel of a maquis, with dine-in and order-online options.
The menu spans the continent: Senegalese Thieb Yap comes with grilled lamb and onion sauce, Thieboudienne pairs jollof rice with fish and vegetables on weekends, and Chicken Yassa is cooked in a mustard sauce. Suya, grilled beef brisket with onions and pepper, and Beef Ribs finished with a sweet jerk sauce round out the meats, while Kosua ne Meko peppered eggs and seafood fritters open the meal. The jollof rice has developed a following for its tamarind-tinged tang.
The Tucker location also runs a rotating buffet, offering a wider spread that has included dishes like okra stew alongside the regular menu.
