Gan Shan

Gan Shan sits on Haywood Road, turning out pan-Asian comfort food shaped by what the kitchen calls "the Asian pantry" — Asian recipes and technique filtered through Western hands and local Appalachian ingredients. The name, Gan Shan, translates loosely to Sunset Mountain, a nod to the North Asheville peak where the restaurant's original owner was raised.

The menu runs through ramen, rice bowls, and dumplings, alongside dishes like brisket and cauliflower. Chef Ray Hui runs the kitchen as executive chef, with Eric Scheffer as owner.

The space offers indoor dining and an outdoor patio, with food also available to go.
