The Gulch was built for people who want to feel like they're somewhere. The restaurants know this and most of them rely on it. The dining room does a lot of the work; the food doesn't always have to. This list has four restaurants because four restaurants in The Gulch are actually worth it. The Catbird Seat is one of the best dining experiences in the country and happens to be here. The Patterson House set the standard for cocktail bars in Nashville and holds it. Maiz de la Vida is doing something with masa and Mexican technique that's specific enough to matter. St. Vito's Focacceria is the most low-key restaurant on this list and one of the most satisfying. Everything else in The Gulch is for someone else.
