Philippe Chow is a New York Chinese restaurant chain that opened in The Gulch because The Gulch gets that kind of thing now. The food is polished and competent in the way that expensive Chinese-American restaurants in hotel corridors tend to be — familiar dishes executed at a high technical level without any specific point of view about the cuisine.
Nashville has Golden Prawn and other Chinese options with more authenticity and less attitude. Philippe Chow is for people who want to eat somewhere they recognize.
The food is technically accomplished and entirely generic. There is nothing here that Nashville needed and nothing that couldn't be found better elsewhere.
